the second week of #lighttheworld is about lighting your community.
jesus said "love your neighbor."
when asked by the crowd "but lord, who is my neighbor?", christ answered with the parable of the good samaritan.
here's a great video to remind us of the parable:
there are plenty of ways you can love your neighbors and light your communities this christmas season.
- donate cash to a food bank (they can do a lot more with cash donations)
- donate food to a food bank
- give gently used items to donation centers such as goodwill, deseret industries
- find a local english language center and volunteer to help people learn english
- scrape snow for someone
- visit the widows or shut-ins
- pay for the person behind you in the drive through
- smile at everyone you see
- give genuine compliments
- say thank you
- tip well at restaurants
- leave dollar bills in the toy section at a dollar store
- tape spare change to a vending machine (#treatsomeoneelse)
this one might be a tad easier to do since there are so many things you can do to help people around you!
good luck & be sure to share your experiences on social media with #LightTheWorld!
